Frequent 2FA Reauthentication Impacting Team Productivity
R
Rita Melo
I would like to understand the root cause and configuration behind the current multi-factor authentication (2FA/MFA) behavior across our software tools.
Our team has reported frequent (daily) reauthentication requests, requiring users to enter their password and complete the 2FA process multiple times throughout the week. This is starting to impact productivity and causes interruptions during daily work.
Could you please help us understand:
- The authentication timeout criteria configured for RIO AWS.
- The session expiration policies currently in place.
- Whether there are Conditional Access, security, network, device compliance, browser, or VPN policies triggering reauthentication.
- Whether timeout values differ between tools and, if so, why.
- Whether there is any planned change or recommended configuration to reduce the frequency of reauthentication while remaining compliant with security requirements.
- Any available documentation on authentication/session management policies.
Business Impact
The repeated authentication flow is causing:
* Loss of productive time
* Context switching and workflow interruptions
* Frustration among team members
* Reduced efficiency when working across multiple tools simultaneously
It would be helpful to understand whether this behavior is expected according to the security policy, and if not, what might be causing the increased frequency of authentication requests.
Thank you for your support.
