We would like a faster internal user selector, for 8000 users it takes about 20/25 seconds to load up the user selector. Perhaps require an input before searching users.

Twan Duvigneau We appreciate your suggestion and understand the challenge you're facing with the current setup. At present, our data source infrastructure requires loading the full dataset before it can be displayed in the form. While this isn't a simple or quick fix, we recognize the importance of your request and will be investigating potential alternatives. I will keep you updated on our progress and will provide more information as soon as possible.

I'm pleased to update you on the progress of your feature request. We've identified a quick solution by proposing an optional search parameter for the "get all users" API endpoint. This would enable you to create a PowerShell data source that returns a filtered list of users, significantly improving response time. While this solution hasn't been implemented yet, a separate feature request has been created and is planned for release in July 2024: https://helloid.canny.io/service-automation/p/optional-search-parameter-for-api-get-all-users-endpoint. 
We recognize that this isn't the perfect solution, as a more comprehensive fix would require considerably more time and effort. I'll keep you informed of any developments regarding the user selector and the native user data source.
