For dynamic forms in Service Automation, we use various data sources: native, static, task, and PowerShell. PowerShell data sources are the most versatile, offering native PowerShell support for data exchange and sending email, audit, and log messages. They also process faster than task data sources and can run locally or from the cloud without a local Agent.
Maintaining both task and PowerShell data sources is time-consuming and offers no additional benefits. Therefore, we will gradually phase out task data sources to minimize impact.
Timeline:
August 2024: New tenants cannot create task data sources. Existing tenants can still create and modify them.
October 2024: Existing tenants can no longer create new task data sources but can modify existing ones.
January 2025: Automatic migration of all task data sources to PowerShell data sources. Task data sources will no longer be available.
Customer Action Required:
Ensure the local Service Automation agent is active and has the correct permissions before the January 2025 release (2025.01 release).
These steps ensure a smooth transition to PowerShell data sources, maintaining the benefits of our dynamic forms. Questions or need assistance? We’re here to help!
